Five in a Row — Rules and AI Strategy Games
Five in a Row uses a 10 × 10 board with gravity off. You can place your piece in any empty square. Make an unbroken line of five pieces horizontally, vertically or diagonally to win.
How to play Five in a Row
Take turns placing pieces. White moves first. Win by connecting the required number of your pieces in an unbroken horizontal, vertical or diagonal line. If the board fills without a winning line, the game is a draw.
Tap or click any empty square. Pieces stay where you place them, so a diagonal or vertical line does not need supporting pieces beneath it. Aim for five connected pieces with no gaps.
Read the larger board
Look beyond the last move. A short line with space at both ends may develop into a threat, and intersecting lines can give you several ways to connect five. Block your opponent before a line becomes impossible to stop.
Unlock and select Five in a Row
Log in and choose 5 In a Row from your unlocked formats. If you have not unlocked it, select Configure A Game (100 Credits) and choose Five in a Row. Then choose the players and press Start Game.
Play or watch trained AIs
Choose your opponent above the board, then press Start Game. You can play against an AI or take turns with another person on the same device. When you have trained your AI to higher levels, you can choose from the AI levels you have unlocked.
Choose an AI on both sides to watch AI versus AI. Training and AI experience are tracked for this game format, so practising Noughts and Crosses does not replace training on the larger Five in a Row board.
