Design your game

There are 1,600 different game formats available. Select More Games to design your game by choosing the board width, height, winning target and gravity.

Choose your own rules

Clockwise gravity cycles Down, Left, Up, Right. Anticlockwise cycles Down, Right, Up, Left. Each direction applies to two consecutive moves, so both players use every direction. Select any empty square; the new piece slides until blocked or at the edge. Existing pieces stay fixed. Both rotating modes allow a maximum 2:1 side ratio.

A game format is the combination of board width, board height, winning target and gravity. Changing these settings changes which connections are possible and how you plan your moves.

  • Width and height: choose between 3 and 10 columns and between 3 and 10 rows.
  • Winning target: choose from 3 up to the shorter board dimension. For example, a 3 × 4 board has a maximum target of 3.
  • Gravity: choose Off, Down, Left, Up, Right, Clockwise, Anticlockwise or Random.

Design and unlock your game

  1. Log in and open Credits, AI Training and More Games if you are on a phone.
  2. Select More Games.
  3. Choose the custom game option and set the board dimensions, target and gravity.
  4. Select Enable this game for 100 credits to add it to your unlocked game formats.

Gravity changes how pieces move

With gravity off, you can choose any empty square. With gravity down, choose a column and the piece occupies its lowest empty square. With gravity up, it moves towards the top edge instead. Full columns cannot accept another piece. With Left or Right, choose a row; the piece slides towards that side. Full rows cannot accept another piece.

Play and train on your custom board

Select your unlocked custom format, choose the players and press Start Game. You can play locally, face an AI or watch AI versus AI. Train your AI specifically for that configuration; experience is tracked separately for each format.

Online opponents must seek the same game format to be matched. A different board size, target or gravity setting is a different format.
